Sifu Nathan Head
From age 4, Nathan Head has had a passion for sport and fitness competing to a state and national level in Rugby Union, Swimming, Basketball and Triathlons. Nathan started his martial arts training over 26 years ago in the Japanese art of Judo in his early teens. Ten years ago, he found his true passion in the traditional art of Jow Gar Kung Fu. Through this traditional kung fu passion, he has expanded his experience to include systems and disciplines he finds integral to the overall health of the human body both physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.
Nathan achieved the rank of Red Sash (highest level) in Jow Gar Kung Fu as a disciple of Sigung Andy Truong. He trains in Jow Gar and Pak Mei Kung Fu with Sigung Andy Truong and is committed to passing on these arts to his students in the traditional manner. Emphasising the importance and correct use of form practice for self defence and demonstrating the superior effectiveness of traditional technique and philosophy in any situation.
The Universal Healing Tao forms an integral part of training for Nathan and his students. Certified as a Cosmic Healing Practitioner and a Universal Healing Tao Instructor through Master Mantak Chia, Nathan's students benefit from classes aimed at teaching them how to feel and cultivate their Chi for health and self-healing.
Nathan's ultimate goal is for his students to be able to defend themselves with confidence, be healthy and live full meaningful lives. He believes that this is only possible through holistic training with the right systems and methods.
Nathan has now added the final piece to his approach with Circular Strength Training® (CST). Certified as a Circular Strength Training® Instructor under program designer and international Sanshou and Sambo champion Scott Sonnon, Nathan has completed the entire accreditation program. He has been approached to roll out the entire fleet of CST group and private personal development classes. Located in Leichhardt in the Inner West and Caringbah in the Sutherland Shire, Head Academy Kung Fu will be the first martial arts schools to professionally represent CST in Australia. CST has been used by many professional athletes, such as UFC Fighter Elvis Sinosic, to improve and enhance their training programs.
Nathan Head is a qualified and recognised martial arts instructor with the International Martial Arts Alliance with accreditation through the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme. Nathan continues to train up to 3 hours a morning perfecting his kung fu, chi kung and CST, and believes the constant commitment to training for self improvement and development are the keys to real personal growth
Nathan welcomes people of all skill and experience levels to train in his schools, from beginners to experienced exponents of Jow Gar and other styles.
