Our Instructors

We take our Kung Fu very seriously, but have a hard time taking ourselves seriously!
Leichhardt Instructors
Ken Harris

At the tender age of 2 Ken went to a martial arts demonstration where a monk stated that "this child was for the martial arts". Some years later Ken started his martial arts journey learning some Karate and a local community centre, but fell short, giving up after only a few classes. (So I guess it wasn't for him).
Then in 1999 at the age of 8, Ken started training Jow Gar Kung Fu under the Jow Biu branch with a close friend of his, just for something to do. In the first few years Ken treated the martial arts as more of pass time than anything else. Then in 2002 Ken was invited into the adults class, as one of the youngest (11 year old) there at the time Ken felt like he had something he needed to prove. Read more...
Eric Jewson

Eric started training Jow gar Kung Fu in 2003. After attaining the rank of dark blue sash under the Jow Biu system, he followed on with Sifu Nathan head who took over the school in 2006 and re-learnt from white sash the Jow Lung system of Jow gar that is trained currently at Head Academy Kung Fu.
He continues to train under Si Gung Andy Truong and Sifu Nathan Head and in 2008 attained the rank of black sash. Eric also completed a bachelors degree in Applied Science (exercise and sport science) following his passion for exercise and martial arts, and now teaches full time in addition to other exercise related work. Some comments have been made that he has strange meanings for the words "fun" and "relax", but believes strongly that any exercise can be made harder (or easier technically).
Harrison Jewson

Harrison began training Jow Gar Kung Fu with his brother Eric in 2003. With the lack of a teens class he moved straight into the adults Kung Fu classes at the age of 12. He trained under the Jow Biu system until the rank of dark blue sash, which he attained in 2006 alongside his brother at which point he started his re-training under Si Gung Andy and Sifu Nathan Head.
Driven by a constant desire to be able to beat up his older brother Harrison attained the rank of Black Sash in 2008, one week before completing his HSC, if you can't guess which one he considers a greater accomplishment he'll be sure to let you know. He's currently studying full time at Sydney university while continuing his very exciting post black sash training.
