A Traditional Definition of Kung fu

Kung Fu or more correctly GongFu,  is a term that expresses the concept of acquiring great skill by continued discipline and practice over a long period of time.

Basically the commitment to Master a skill.

You can have good Gong fu as a chef, computer programer or boxer. Your gung fu is what elevates your skill level above your peers. It is your dedication to mastering your art. Something that is being lost in our fast paced, time poor modern world of instant gratification, where all knowledge, including opinions of the uninformed are available at the click of a mouse.

Like meditation and spiritual work Gong fu’s greatest lesson is that…. the knowledge that counts, the knowledge that eventually becomes wisdom and understanding is attained through the dedication to going on a personal journey, to go inside of yourself. Find your limitations, find your ego, and dispel it all through commitment to becoming the very best version of yourself that you can be. Martial arts is just one vehicle to find Gung Fu.

It is found away from the ego of competition and the false proving ground of sport. It is found in the  heart of the practitioner, when they train not so that they can beat some one else but so they can beat themselves, and be better tomorrow than they were today.
